Officer's Manual: Corporal

Abilities of a soldier at the rank of Corporal

Corporals

Corporal is the second lowest rank of soldier in active service, one up from the rank of Private.

Corporals have reasonable movement, attack and defence stats, and are of similar overall strenght to soldier's in vehicles and significantly stronger than Privates.

Movement range

Soldiers have the ability to travel over all types of terrain, including the Sea. Like Tanks they find Roads and Building tops easiest to travel across, but can also make their way across Mountains and through Forests.

Soldiers are very sensitive to the angle of the terrain they are travelling across, and as well as being penalised for travelling up slopes they also suffer an additional penalty when travelling down steep slopes, although they find shallow downward slopes slightly easier than flat terrain.

Although soldiers can swim as well as walk, they must always use a Jump to switch between the Sea and the land. They cannot swim and walk in the same turn.

Corporal Attack and Defence Meters
Defence level: 32%
Attack level: 50%

The Corporal has a moderate defense level - slightly higher than most vehicles, and a decent attack level - the same as a Tank.

Impact radius:

Target cell only

Attack range min / max:

0 cells / 11 cells

The Corporal's attack range is 11 cells, which is more than all other vehicles except the Gun Turret, and he uses a line of sight weapon. This means that he needs to be able to clearly see his target, as well as it being in range, in order to be able to launch an attack.

All line of sight weapons have zero minimum range (they can shoot targets in the adjacent cell), and cannot be used when the soldier is swimming.

Special properties

All soldiers are protected from line of sight weapon attacks when stood in Forests. If they are on the edge of a Forest they can sometimes be attacked if the enemy is fairly close, and they can usually be attacked within a Forest if the enemy is stood right next to them, but otherwise they can only be attacked by soldiers in vehicles.
