Properties of the Helicopter vehicle

Helicopter

The Helicopter is the most versatile vehicle in terms of movement, with a high range and no terrain penalties, and has a unique and powerful attack, but it has very a very low defence level.

Movement range

The Helicopter has the maximum possible movement range, and is unique in that its free to move over all terrain types without any additional penalty. The angle of the terrain also has no effect on the Helicopter's movement as it flys above the surface of the island.

The Helicopter has a high attack level and a very weak defence level. Entering a Helicopter always brings a reduction in defense level for soldiers of any rank, but offers a unique and powerful attack and usually an increased attack range.

The Helicopter has a fairly long maximum attack range of 7 cells, and no minimum range (meaning it can fire straight down).

It uses with a unique strafe attack which fires bullets from directly below the Helicopter and into every cell in a line to the target cell, potentially hitting up to 7 targets, and inflicting 100% of the Helicopter's damage to each one (unlike parabolic weapons which inflict reduced damage further away from the target cell). If enemy soldiers are foolish enough to stand close together in a straight line, a helicopter attack can be devestating.

The price to pay for this power is that each attack uses two ammo units, so on average a Helicopter can only fire every other turn, and a maximum of twice in one turn.

Special properties

The Helicopter is mostly immune to attacks from parabolic weapons (Tank, Boat, Gun Turret), as it hovers above the ground where these attacks are aimed. It sometimes catches some fall off damage from large Gun Turret explosions, but never takes the full force of a parabolic attack, even if its targetted at the cell directly beneath the Helicopter.
