Officer's Manual: Tanks

Tank

The Tank is a strong vehicle with very good movement range over land, good attack power and defence, but with limited attack range and some restrictions on the terrains it can travel over.

Movement range

The Tank has very good movement range over roads and building tops, takes advantage of gravity for a reduced penalty for downhill travel, and only has a small penalty for uphill travel. It is slightly less effective over uneven ground (sand, grass and rough) but is completely unable to travel through mountain and forest terrains. The Tank cannot travel in water.

Attack and Defence levels

Attack level: 50%

The Tank has a strong attack level and strong defence level. Entering a Tank represents a significant step up in both attack and defence for a soldier of Private rank on foot.

Attack range min / max:

2 cells / 5 cells

The Tank has a short maximum attack range of 5, and along with its minimum range of 2 has a fairly limited 'donut' around its position which it can attack.

Within that range its attacks are fairly powerful, and craters 4 cells wide (the size of the attack radius) are left in the island's surface.

Tanks can be used to attack soldiers who are hidden within Forests, but they cannot be used to attack occupied Helicopters as projectile shells can only be aimed at the ground.

Special properties

The Tank is unable to cross Forest or Mountain terrain. Forest can be crossed by first firing a shell into a forested area; the resulting crater will destroy the forest and leave behind rough or sand terrain which the Tank can travel across. Firing a shell into road however will have the opposite effect; the resulting crater will destroy the road and leave behing rocky mountain terrain, which the Tank is unable to travel across.
