Subject: Vampire Circus
This is another page from my Vampire Circus concept art sketchbook, from 1996. This was a project that was never made, although we did sign it up with Ocean as part of a two project deal, alongside Wetrix. That deal was scuppered by the Infogrames buy out of Ocean almost days after we signed our contract.
This is just about the first page in the sketchbook, so just my very first character doodles, probably from the first day or two of discussions with John about the game.
The squared paper behind some of the illustrations indicate that they were drawn while at Software Creations (the studio that we formed as Zed Two was originally intended to be a semi-autonomous studio within Software Creations where John and I were Senior Producer / Art Direcotor, and we spent a lot of time negotiating the deal to make that happen, probably while thinking about the design of the first game), either that or I nicked some stationary from Creations and drew this at home on their pads.
These were two of the characters in the five man squad the player controlled: Albert the Ringmaster, and the knife thrower who's name escapes me - it was thirteen years ago!
