Subject: Wizards & Warriors 3
This is a concept drawing for Silversword (Wizards and Warriors 3), our NES game from 1989 or so.
With all this concept art I was trying to do drawings of the game sprites that matched what we could actually draw on screen, on an NES, rather than doing drawings that bore little or no relation to the tiny pixelly shapes on-screen, so I used simple, basic shapes and thick lines.
I can't remember if this guy moved or not, or if he was just an obstacle / barrier to a section of the map that was magically removed at a certain point in the story (his leaning post suggest to me that maybe he didn't move at all). I'll have to look through my backups and see if I can find any sprite frames for 'Fred'!
