Naked War iOS cover art

It's been a ton of work, but yesterday I finally finished the new loading screen for Naked War on iOS. Click on the image to see a bigger version.

Some of you might have seen the Vines I've been posting of the work involved in some of the individual figures in the picture (building up from sketch, block colour, painting, outline, etc.). Painting the whole thing in one go was too overwhelming, so I split it up into separate mini paintings for each element, then composed them into one picture at the end.

Also, I knew that with Apple promotional material requirements, as well as different phone screen sizes etc., I might need to produce different versions of this image at different aspect ratios, so the ability to move each individual element of the picture around slightly (or even remove one of the figures completely) would be really useful.

This was a low priority job that I've squeezed it in between anything more urgent, so I've actually been working away on this for a couple of months off and on. It's a relief to finally see it finished. I'm really pleased with it.

We should make prints of it or something!

This feels like the first proper loading screen I've done since the Spectrum days.

Huh? Strange. I thought you posted this already. I already commented on how good it looks. Really it's a good cover art. Hope the game goes well and becomes a hit.

Thank you!

Gee. I'm actually thinking about playing it now. Looks Great!

I read your interview about bringing Naked War to iOS:

I am very interested in Naked War (I love the turn-based gameplay concept) and wondering if I can help in anyway. I am an indie game developer and use Unity.

How far along are you in your port to iOS and what dev platform are you using? And how are you handling online multiplayer? Are you using a cloud-based service?

My game is a turn-based abstract board game and I just updated it with online multiplayer for 2 to 4 players and I’d be interested in helping you with the turn-based multiplayer development.

A beta of my game can be played at

Kindest Regards,

Dan Huffman
