Chapter 8 pencils (Deg Illustrations)

This chapter contained mentions of a couple of London landmarks, Earl’s Court (which I’d visited many times myself for video game shows) and Battersea Power Station, and I immediately thought of distorting them and kind of folding them together at an impossible 3D angle. Only when I finished the drawing did I realise that it looked like something out of Inception. I definitely wasn’t deliberately copying the imagery from the film, but I might have been inspired without realising it.

The dominant buildings already made this illustration feel a bit different from the earlier ones, and I went a bit further by embracing the ‘screen’ imagery from the book and filling most of the rest of the space with screens of various types, this time with a perspective 3D effect.

The blank screens would be based on distorted photo reference, which I would ink without any pencilling.
