I was very pleased with the finished illustration here. I felt like I’d become comfortable with digital inking by now, and the final rendering here is pretty much exactly what I was aiming for in terms of line thickness, shading, contrast, texture, etc.
I’m especially fond of the two or three really tiny panels, where you probably can’t work out exactly what’s going on, although in every case I was deliberately attempting to draw something specific, rather than random lines or textures, so hopefully the drawings will suggest something to the reader who stares at the illustration for long enough, even if they’re not quite sure what it is.
The distorted face in the middle is from a photo of a dear friend of mine who passed away a few years ago, way too soon. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind being immortalised in this way.
